How to resign from your current political party and join KENYA DEMOCRATS PARTY (KEDEPA)

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to help you resign from your current political party and register as a KEDEPA member using the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) USSD service or website.
Step 1: Resign from Your Current Political Party

Option A: Using the USSD Code *509#

  1. Dial *509# on your mobile phone
  2. If you are a first-time user, follow the prompts to register by entering your ID number and first name as they appear on your national ID.
  3. You’ll receive an ORPP PIN via SMS.
  4. Dial *509# again and enter your PIN.
  5. Select “Membership” from the menu.
  6. Choose Option 3: “Resign” to formally leave your current party.
  7. Confirm your details to complete the resignation process.

Option B: Online via the ORPP Portal

  1. Visit the Integrated Political Parties Management System (IPPMS) at https://ippms.orpp.or.ke or log in through eCitizen.
  2. Register or log in using your ID number and first name.
  3. Navigate to “Membership Resignation” under your account.
  4. Confirm your resignation by following the on-screen prompts and entering the OTP sent to your phone.
  5. Check your registration status to ensure you are no longer affiliated with any party.

  2. Enter your ORPP PIN.

  3. Select “Membership.”

  4. Choose the option to “Join a party.”

  5. Enter the party name: KEDEPA.

  6. Enter the party code: (yet to be assigned to KEDEPA by ORPP)

  7. Provide your county, constituency, and ward codes as prompted.

  8. Confirm your details to complete your registration as a KEDEPA member.

Option B: Online via the ORPP Portal

  1. Log in to the IPPMS portal or eCitizen as above.

  2. Go to the “Join a Party” section.

  3. Select “Kenya Democrats Party (KEDEPA)” from the list.

  4. Fill in your details and submit your application.

  5. Wait for confirmation from the party, your membership will be updated once approved.
